Fun on the 4th!

The 4th of July was a fun family day this year because we had all of the kids home.
(My favorite kind of day!)
We began the day with the Round Top 4th of July Parade.
Little Miss Emme
Kyle & Haley
Colin, Luke & Tori
Little Mister loved the parade!
Troy & I aka Mia & Gpa
Little Miss wasn't too disturbed by all of the excitement!
Nathan & Paige

We spent the afternoon playing and playing and playing....

He is SO CUTE!!!!!!

Poor guy but mommy makes it all better.
Obviously he recovered and moved on to the next game.

The aunts helping Miss Em celebrate her 1 month birthday :)

So sweet!

These girls are a mess!

We ended the evening with an amazing fireworks display provided by Glasco & Co. Landscaping with our wonderful sons in law making it all happen.  They did an incredible job!  It was truly better than any fireworks display we have seen in years.
Maybe Mr. Glasco will make this an annual event :)

It was a Happy 4th with our cuties!!!

Sip & See....It's a Southern Thing

Mia, Aunt Haley and Aunt Paige could not wait to introduce our friends in Brenham to
Little Miss Emmerson.
In true southern fashion we planned a Sip & See and had a great time in the process.  We actually tried  some new recipes from Pintrest including the Lemonade Punch, Cinnamon Pretzels & Baked Brie Bites (all from my Food-Snacks & Drinks Board) as well as Mini Fruit Tarts and White Chocolate dipped Rice Krispie Treats (from my Food-Sweet Treats Board.)  Some our favorite family recipes were added to the mix to provide a beautiful and delicious selection.

Big Brother Luke did a great job welcoming guests and even decided to be kind to his sister.

Love that boy!
Such a beautiful mommy!

Here a just a few of the special moments Paige captured of Emme's special day-
Memie with her great granddaughter

ALL of my sweet girls! (Poor Emme....no more pictures please!)
Luke said hey...don't forget about me with all of this girly stuff going on!

Precious Girl, Precious Memories,Precious Day!

Oh how I LOVE being Mia!

The Fruit of Our Labor

We love to have a spring and fall garden at the farm.
Our grandson, Luke, has decided that he thinks the garden is pretty interesting as well.  Hearing him attempt to say zucchini was priceless!
It seems inevitable that our garden produces the greatest crop when I have the least amount of time to deal with it.  I wish I had been better at taking pictures this year because this has been one of those fruitful seasons in the garden.
Thus far we have gathered around 50 pounds of potatoes, at least a bushel of black-eyed peas are shelled and in the freezer, countless cucumbers, yellow squash and zucchini.  (I actually just baked some zucchini bread for our B & B guests checking in tomorrow.)  I can’t begin to tell you how many tomatoes we have picked!
Of course masses of tomatoes were picked a couple of days before Miss Emmerson made her entrance into the world.  I have been gone for the past two weeks helping Tori with Luke and Emme while the tomato count continued to mount in my refrigerator.
Troy and all of our kids love for me to make picante sauce.  I think Nathan is the most persistent….maybe because he eats the most!  Well I finally tackled the mass of tomatoes this week.  The kids all contributed bell peppers and jalapeno peppers from their gardens as well as some of their tomatoes.
After two days of canning we have almost 40 pints of picante sauce.
I finally broke down and bought a new food processor this year.  Worth every penny!
If I can gather the energy I may end up with one more batch before it is all said and done.  At the rate these people go through the stuff, I’m not sure how long it will last but for now everyone is happy!
It was amazing that the evening I had the first batch ready to go the kids “just happened” to show up at the house and all left with several jars…good luck getting them to share!
